December saw staff across the One Broker Group volunteer their time and collect food donations for a number of charities supporting homelessness across East Anglia. Food boxes filled with basic necessities were supplied to Foodbanks in Norwich and Cambridge, while staff wrapped presents and packed hampers to give to those in dire need.
The One Broker Group continued its support of foodbanks for a second year running by collecting food supplies across its five offices located in Norwich, Cambridge, Bishop’s Stortford and Bury St. Edmunds. Staff from Gibbs Denley Insurance Services and NWBIB, both located in Cambridge, also volunteered to wrap Christmas presents for victims of homelessness who are supported by local charity, Winter Comfort. Norwich employees, meanwhile, donated a morning packing Christmas hampers filled with sweets and treats for underprivileged families in Norfolk as part of the Norwich Basket Brigade.
The month was topped off with a collection for Save the Children as part of the charities Christmas Jumper Day on the 15th of December. Staff wore their festive pullovers with pride and raised £65 in support of children’s rights and relief around the world.
Speaking on the month of charity volunteering, Pauline Brunning, who works in GDIS’ Insurer Accounts team, commented "It’s been very rewarding to help our local homeless charities this winter. A highlight for me was the morning I spent at Winter Comfort in Cambridge, seeing first-hand the amazing work the charity performs in supporting vulnerable people living on the streets."
