This time last year, when we said we were looking forward to an exciting 2017, even we were not expecting to have quite so many great things to celebrate in the business!
We started the year by welcoming Samantha Read to the newly created position of Group HR Manager and over the past 12 months she has proved to be an invaluable part of our management team.
In the second quarter of the year our group raised awareness and money for a variety of charitable causes including donating to the Papworth Trust in Cambridge, staff from Norwich taking part in the Cycle 100 and the announcement of Blood Bikes as our Charity of the Year. Our wonderful staff donated time and food to local foodbanks, also.
Summer for the group was a hive of activity, with KTIB winning the Adnams 'Integrity In All We Do Award', and the purchase of Gibbs Denley Insurance Services Ltd based in Swavesey and Bury St Edmunds. July also saw the launch of One Guarantee, an insurance scheme offering a range of products for the Structural Warranty market.
Through Autumn we attended numerous events such as StudyWorld, the Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival and the Emergency Services Show. We also found time to organise a well-attended golf day at Barnham Broom in Norfolk for staff and clients.
Our staff were being recognised as well- Rory McPhail became a Director in the Cambridge office NWBIB and we recruited four graduates onto our staff. In addition, we entered three members of the group from three separate companies into Insurance Age’s Broker Apprentice. With all this recruitment it became clear we needed to grow our HR resource and Chloe Miller joined Samantha in our HR department. In preparation for the impending brand migration to One Broker we redecorated our Norwich office and expanded our floor space.
As we head towards the end of the year, our pace hasn’t slackened. We are proud that two of our staff were entered into the Cambridge CII’s Young Achiever of the Year Award. The staff at Gibbs Denley have presented awards at the British Youth Travel Award, while our We Love Lettings team have been visiting each of our Managing Agents. We have continued our charity work as well, with staff across the group planking for Pudsey, donating for the second time in the year to local foodbanks as well as packing items in both Norwich and Cambridge to help those in dire need.
In November Insurance Age published a list of the Top 100 Independent Insurance Brokers and we were delighted to reach the 37th position. What a wonderful way to end such an amazing year for the group and entirely down to our wonderful staff, clients and suppliers.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year. I have a feeling that 2018 will be equally if not more exciting, with the forthcoming launch of a host of new initiatives!
